More Garden Concerns

We had some pretty volatile storms roll through here in the past week.  Heavy rain gave me an opportunity to observe the run off in the yard and unfortunately, it has left me apprehensive about my prior planned location.  Due to the layout of my yard, I’m not really sure if there is any other space I could use.  It has me worried and has been on my mind.

I wish this were easier.  I’m sure most other beginners have gone through similar let downs and I am glad that I noticed the run off problem prior to installing the raised garden bed but it is a little demoralizing.  Fellow vegetable gardeners, please offer some insight or inspiration to let me know that it will all be worth it?  As dumb as it is, this problem has be slightly depressed and somewhat demotivated.

Without knowing the layout of your yard, here are a couple quick things that came to mind. If these were uncommon storms, maybe you are overestimating the affect they will have on your garden. I may have missed it in the past, but what are you going to use for your raised beds. In my mind, dimensional lumber and cinder block should both withstand even major runoff pretty well.

Also, where is the runoff coming from? If gutters you could redirect or capture the water.

My gut tells me everything will work out, If you have pictures of the area so we can get a better idea of the challenge. Keep your head up, I really don’t have a good place for a garden so I am going to have to try and sneak some vegetables into my landscape.
